Theological sense of the "Madonna of Consolation"

Summary: The article is devoted to a habit of calling the Madonna presented on the holy picture of Leżajsk, the Madonna of Consolation. The theological meaning of this title is twofold. The foreground shows a direct insight, i.e. The Holiest Virgin of Nazareth, who is believed to guide her pious believers during their dangerous and painful worldly life and who is perceived as an unequalled example and the symbol of hope. The mystery of Her Assumption helps pious Christians to understand the sense of grinning and bearing the adversities. The background turns the attention to the meaning of the said service of St. Mary rendered on behalf of her believers. It is closely connected with Her particular relations with the Holy Trinity, and mainly with the Son of God who was born by Her in a natural, human way and also by "God of all Consolation" (2 Kor. 1, 3), i.e. The Holy Father and the Holy Spirit. The relation of the Holy Virgin with the Holy Spirit is very important in consoling grief, as the role of the latter, often called "The Consoler", in the process of leading a man to the port of redemption is very significant.
