Przemiany w ruchu pielgrzymkowym na Jasną Górę w okresie II Rzeczypospolitej (1918-1939) Changes in the Pilgrimage Traffic to Jasna Góra in the 1919-1939 Period Summary: Those migrations showed scope exeeding Europe , as among the pilgrims there were Poles from the United States and Canada. During discussed two decades the trafic to Jasna Góra showed the growing dynamics, with the boom in 1938, when came 1626 groups, consisted of 647.897 pilgrims, while in 1921 there were 526 and 171.536 respectively. The pilgrims number grew at over 377 % - unproportionately to the demographical growth of Roman-Catholic Church believers in Poland. The pilgriming to the Jasna Góra showed an evolution towards the school groups, of pilgrimage-sightsseing character, and the pilgrimages of particular professions, of the national scope. There were 6.313 such the groups and 1.134.511 pilgrims. Some groups from schools and various organization were small, to some 10 participants. The greatest national pilgrimage of the Catholic Association of Male Youth in 1938 contained 100.000 pilgrims. The traffic of the proffessional groups developed in proportion to the growing activity of the Marial Sodalitions, and - since the 30s - that of the Catholic Action. Also the pilgrimages organized by the particular parishes have changed. More and more often were those from several distant parishes, coming together to Częstochowa, by the train. The pilgriming to Jasna Góra was backed and highly esteemed by the episcopature of Poland and by the State authorities, because of an integrating role of this phenomen, breaking the divisions of Polish territory, made during the partition period. Connected with the pilgrimages the spiritual integration of the Polish society, basing on the worship of the Holy Mary - the Queen of Polish Crown, the shaping of patriotic attitudes and those of the citizens, require special investigations.
