Attempt to construct a dynamic typology of population changes according to Webb's classification on the example of the Małopolskie Voivodeship

Summary: In the light of the universal method by J. W. Webb, classifying population changes, the article attempts to collect the methods for dynamic classification of the subgroups under study, depending on the degree of details in the analysis adopted. In the assumed further generalizations of the variability of Webb's types, instead of drawing vectors, a classification of the population under study was presented according to a 'classification diagram', including the names of the selected types and sub-types, as well as their synthetic description. The research was presented on the example of towns and counties of the Małopolskie Voivodeship, with the use of average data from the periods 1986-1988 and 1996-98.The summary contains a statement that the performance of a dynamic classification of population changes based on Webb's typology should be applied depending on the degree of detail required in the analysis. In the case of a rather small population, the degree of detail may be higher, while the larger the group, the more generalized should be the classification, unless the research is of the basic type, aiming at thorough analysis of the units and their detailed description concerning the elements of the population changes.
